Helping Seniors Keep Their Independence through Lifestyle AdjustmentsAs you care for your aging loved ones, you need to effectively assess with them their needs. Once everyone understands these needs, a support system should be established that keeps them safe, active, happy and independent as possible. Advantage Senior Care has a family senior assessment instrument that helps determine needs and a superior, non-medical care plan. The assessment covers major areas such as cognitive, medical, social support and environmental. Cognitive assessment is about memory loss and dementia. Adjustments provide support with recall and a structure to help with their schedule and daily routine. Medical assessments deal with medical history, physical limitations, depression and feelings, nutrition, medications, hearing, vision and mobility. The social support assessment addresses the family and friends aspect of the senior’s life and the type of support that may be needed to keep the senior connected within the community and to their friends. The environmental assessment focuses on safety first within the home. Sanitation and infection control are also important elements of the home environment assessment. Our agency is a Christian organization guided by Christian principals (Galatians 5: 22, 23). We believe that we all need to view life from our spiritual beliefs and look at what type of pastoral care is needed for nurturing the seniors as they face health and age related challenges. This is a family matter and is not part of the agency assessment. However, Advantage Senior caregivers are available to take our clients to church and church activities. Superior care at a reasonable cost for our aging seniors is about helping them make lifestyle adjustments to improve their daily living. Call Advantage Senior Care for our free Home Safety Check, the Fall Prevention Checklist and/or the Family Senior Assessment. |
